It was a very nice city. Officially called The City of Nottingham, it became a city in 1897 as part of the Diamond Jubilee celebrations for Queen Victoria. They had a main square called the “Old Market Square” with a lot of activities. There was a Ferris Wheel and a rotating swing seat or whatever its called! and right behind the rides was the majestic Nottingham Council House Whiskey and Milk walked all the way with their hats they had bought in Sherwood Forest
The 11th c. Nottingham Castle was unfortunately closed but Peter Pan (Elton) posed next to the “Robin Hood Memorial Statue” right outside the castle for some photos with his sexy green hat on!
The original Norman castle built on this spot was wooden and in a motte and bailey design on the orders of William the Conqueror in 1067. The present “Ducal Mansion” built inside the castle walls was built in the 16th c. and now houses the Nottingham Castle Museum.
We noticed that the walls of the castle were so old and built right on-top of rocks which was very clever and must have been very difficult to build in those days.

We really liked Nottingham because of the many different architectural styled buildings from different eras.
An interesting fact which I found out was that in the 15th c. Nottingham had set itself up as a thriving export trade in Religious Sculpture made from alabaster.
The fun fair in Market Square right infront of the Civic Centre Building
