Tufenkian Historic Yerevan Hotel review
TUFENKIAN HISTORIC YEREVAN HOTEL is located in a beautiful building in a great location in Yerevan
And despite the name, it isn’t actually an old historic building! The hotel opened in 2012 and was designed to look like old Yerevan, combining European classical architecture with 19thβ20th c. Armenian architectural influences
Owned by the Tufenkian Heritage Hotels group founded by James Tufenkian (and American Armenian enterpreneur) he began with the Tufenkian carpet business before expanding into hotels

Its a really quirky location which gives this hotel and cafe a really artsy and cultural Armenian vibes as its across the road from Vernisage markets and has a carpet store and showroom in the hotel itself
Look at this building! It was calling to me… we hadnt planned to go here…
The gorgeous exterior is made from traditional Armenian black and orange tuff, giving the building that classic Yerevan look
A regal and handsome looking building from the outside which catches the eye straight away, masculine and energetic, its a beautiful hotel, inviting and definitely interesting…
and then you walk inside….
There is the cafe on the side of the hotel and you can stop here for a drink or coffee and sit in the hotel’s outdoor area, even if you’re not staying overnight, which is what we did…
The hotel reception lobby, pretty impressive! I loved the lights hanging from the ceiling, a mix of traditional Armenian and modern contemporary design is scattered all around this hotel

The restaurant is on the ground floor, with a lovely balcony area where you can sit outside.
Dishes served have flavours from Western Armenia created in a contemporary approach
Kharpert (Τ½Υ‘ΦΥ’Υ₯ΦΥ€) is the Armenian name for Harput, a historic Armenian region/city in present-day eastern Turkey
THE OUTSIDE BALCONY CAFE / RESTAURANT SEATING AREA
We found a nice spot under the sun and enjoyed our coffees
Friendly cats loitering around trying to grab food by being all cutesy lol
Our americano’s – be warned, we paid 2200amd for 1 – That’s around double what you might pay in many other Yerevan cafΓ©s, so you’re definitely paying a little for the surroundings and hotel experience. π
BUT… the coffee was good
We received a yummy chocolate with our coffee
Sitting outside in the sun was so lovely, the feel of this hotel is really relaxed and peaceful even with so many tourists around, it has a nice subtle vibe
TUFENKIAN CARPETS
One of my favourite things about the hotel is that you can see the Tufenkian story throughout the building
Tufenkian Artisan Carpets was established in the late 1985 and began bringing carpet production into Armenia in 1993, helping to revive the Armenian carpet industry in Armenia
so, found in a side room leading out from the lobby of the hotel is a carpet showroom with gorgeous carpets on display!

The upstairs area is a small cocktail bar which overlooks the restaurant on one side and the lobby on the other
The hotel even has a small outdoor swimming pool around 10x4m where you can cool off in, perhaps with a drink? Its a small courtyard and seating area upstairs

The rooms continue the same elegant Armenian-meets-European style, with natural materials, Armenian craftsmanship and Tufenkian carpets.

I really liked the atmosphere of this hotel, it was low key and didnt come across at snobby or up market, it had a nice feel to it, I could explore and walk around without anyone annoying me and the cafe and sitting area outside was nice
