16mins from Alnwick Castle

It didn’t take us long to get to Dunstanburgh Castle which was only 16mins away on the coastline and in between the villages of Craster and Embleton. We had to park our car and walk in a field towards the castle which was on a spectacular cliff overlooking the water, just so beautiful! We didn’t walk all the way to the castle as it was quite a far way so we took photos from afar.

This castle was first built in the 13th c. and is the largest castle in Northumberland. It didn’t really play a major role in protecting against Scottish invasion though.

It was getting really cold and we were freezing! So we walked back to the car and headed to our next destination… all these amazing castles!! We were so excited to be able to see them…
