We had a few options to get to the airport, all of them were expensive so we had to choose what was easiest for us all

We chose the ferry to the airport which was 1hr 20mins – as you dont get to catch a ferry to the airport very often at all!

NOTE: give an additional 15mins to walk to the airport terminal

We arrived at airport at 2:30pm (2hrs before) and the whole check in process from the beginning was seamless!

Our flight was 16:40 from Marco Polo airport in Mestre mainland
We had our ferry from San Marco Giardinetti

We bought our tickets the day before so we didnt have to worry about it the day of our flight which ended up being a good decision because so much was happening in St Marks Sq and so much to see!

We got into the line around 5mins before the boat and they checked and double checked everything so we knew we were on the right ferry… because if you miss your trip to airport its not easy to recover from that as its usually 2 stop transport to the terminal and you have to time things accordingly
€18 ticket one-way – a bit pricey, but everything is expensive in Venice!
The ferry arrived on time with friendly cute Italian drivers!
Ferry was full of people heading to the airport,
It was such a nice ferry ride from Venice and around the islands, saw the surrounding islands and we stopped at quite a few stops to pick up passengers
We eventually got to the airport but it was the most relaxing airport trip ever and I totally recommend!

The airport terminal was modern and you felt a big difference as you came to the mainland, the beauty and elegance of venice island is totally gone and the modernist designs slap you hard in the face 😢

Connected directly and quiet well with moving walkways – it takes 15mins to walk to the terminal
Nicely made modern ferry terminal linked to the airport
follow the old school signs and youre on your way!
There are plenty of fast moving walkways which get you there what seems like quicker timing!
I want to go to every single destination! Lol

We walked in and were a bit stumped as it looked like we didnt have to go to a check in counter as we had already checked in and we didnt have check in bags
Went straight through to the gates

Passing baggage control (which was very modern machine guided which i had never seen before)

Went through duty free and bought some cheap italian alcohol (Disarno almond liquor €15 / crema limoncello €14)
Headed directly to the gate C41 which was on the lower floor
When you go to the lower floor you know that you are going to be bused to your plane
We went to the gate as it said we were already boarding at 15:40

I wasnt “priority” so got told off by the scary tall italian woman and i just shrugged cos i hadnt heard anything announced, she just let me pass anyways…

Bus waiting we jumped in and waited for everyone else
Got to the plane and they were fueling so we waited 10mins in the bus
I was seat 6F so at the front, not used to that as i usually like the back – flight was full and I was handed my backpack to put under my feet

Can i just say…. These airlines are just money hungry b*stards.. we saw the baggage getting loaded and there wasnt much at all! Cos they charge so much, everyone brings their trolley bags on board so they have to put those up the top instead, wasnt like that before

Wizz air revenue was €5,07b an increase of 3.8%

Families and those traveling together are placed in random seats too! So people were switching and swapping seats as we were waiting for everyone to board, another stupid way to make money as they charge $22US to choose your seat! Ridiculous…
