WHALE WATCHING:
If you’re walking between May and November, keep looking out to sea because Sydney’s eastern coastline is a great vantage point during the annual whale migration! Its an amazing sight to see!
Sydney does coastal walks VERY well, and this one has pretty much everything… its got beautiful beaches, cliffs, rock pools, little hidden bays and really nice blue ocean views!
I started at Coogee Beach and headed north towards Bronte, following part of the famous Bondi to Coogee Coastal Walk
🏖️ COOGEE BEACH ~ Where the Walk Begins!
Coogee Beach is one of Sydney’s classic eastern-suburbs beaches, sitting around 8 km southeast of the CBD
Its a very chill and cool place with happy locals who are basically surfies (lol) or the rich IT, Dr and Lawyer types, and who love the water and the “typical” Aussie beach lifestyle and lucky to live it!

Coogee Beach – Goldstein Reserve
From here, the coastal path heads north towards Gordons Bay, Clovelly, Bronte and eventually Bondi.

DID YOU KNOW? The name Coogee is generally believed to come from an Aboriginal word associated with the smell of seaweed drying along the shore — something that was apparently rather noticeable here in the early days!

You can see a tiny dot of a person in the middle there, it was quite rough waters
This area is a natural rock pool tucked into the cliffs at the northern end of Coogee Beach with beautiful crashing waves
GORDAN’S BAY – Sydney’s little hidden bay
Gordons Bay – Access is on foot to here… much calmer waters here with a glimpse of aqua here and there
Surprisingly, its a secluded little spot for somewhere so close to the city!
Gordon’s Bay – a nice private small beach along the path
Its a great place to dive as well and there is a unique and hidden underwater nature trail!
CLOVELLY BEACH
A VERY Different Kind of Sydney Beach!
Its inside a long, narrow rocky bay and it has a nice calmer water than Sydneys Surf beaches
Clovelly Beach – a really nice secluded beach with sand as well as cemented area to sit and sunbake, Clovelly Cliffs
People are happy to lie down on the cement instead of sand here!

WAVERLEY CEMETERY
Now THIS has to be one of the most spectacular cemetery locations I’ve ever seen!
Waverley Municipal Council, itself only proclaimed in 1859, soon recognised that a general cemetery was needed to service the developing community of the eastern suburbs and, in 1868, reserved 1200 pounds to purchase ten acres for the establishment of the cemetery.
Laid out professionally as a cemetery of the Victorian style and with its recurring use of ethereally white Italian Carrara marble, Waverley Cemetery soon resembled a strategic collection of individual memorials that portrayed a cohesive and unified visual character.
Among the Australians buried here are poet Henry Lawson, poet Dorothea Mackellar and aviation pioneer Lawrence Hargrave.

A perfect finish to a lovely day walk along the coast line and adventure with the wind flowing through my hair and a smile on my face!
