Getting to and from Sofia International Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 to the city centre is SO easy and cheap!

M4 yellow line goes to the airport and back approx 30mins

The metro map

The metro is the cheapest way as it costs only 1.60bgn ($1.40au) compared to taxi which cost around $20-25au)

PLZ NOTE : Add an additional 20-30mins to your trip (just in case) as you will need to factor in an internal free bus shuttle from terminal 2 to international terminal 1

Serdika Metro is the main hub with 3 interchanging lines and its a beautiful station as parts of it have ruins incorporated into the tunnels connecting the lines and underground walkways

Serdika metro station

There are many entrances / exits for Serdika

I entered at this one just under the Monument of Saint Sofia on the south side

There is a water feature at the entrance to the station on the left where the doors to line 3 and 4 are
There is a blue ticket machine where I got my ticket from

There is also a person at the ticket desk if you want that option

You put in a coin or note and the ticket is dispensed – easy!

You just need to tap the ticket to the red scanner and the top blue scanner turns green and you walk through the gate

Or you have the option to just tap your credit card or phone at the turnstile as you enter and use your card instead of buying the ticket

Steps down to the platform – the red and yellow lines take off from here

The airport line is on the left, the yellow one – i only waited a minute and the metro arrived

Efficient and comfortable metros… everyone jumped on and got settled for the 32 min journey
The train was clean and with plenty of room
Rome2rio app – The train stops to the airport
An easy ride to sofia airport terminal 2
Easy 32min ride to the last stop which is terminal 2 airport
Its very clean and modern with basic facilities
The Airport station
You didnt need to scan out of these turnstyles
The metro station entrance at T2
Walk out of the station and you come first to Terminal 2

If you are leaving from internation terminal 1 keep walking past these doors and head towards the shuttle stop

The shuttle stop is located further along past the main doors near the smoking section
The yellow zig zag lines are where the shuttle stops

There are pot plants all infront there seems to be no actual line to wait to board the shuttle so stand anywhere

This sign shows the timetable

The reason why I say give yourself extra : By the time the bus came and we waited for other passengers it was around 15mins so arrival to T1 was 20mins in total

The small shuttle between terminals
Plenty luggage space and sitting areas
The drop off point is right infront of T1 Arrivals

So, keep walking towards the left through the car park

And you come up to the departure doors for the terminal
And youve made it! Easy and cheap option to get to the airport
