I leisurely started walking to the station around 9am and it took around 1hour

I ducked into a few churches which were open early for the locals to pray in – still looking around in awe at the beautiful buildings with the sun shining down

I couldnt NOT take a last photo of the Palace as passing by

Platform 4 train departs

Passed through the xray area and stumbled upon some english speakers the first time since ive been here!

The xray machines went so fast all the baggage got caught at the other end and we were all laughing!

The xray guy wasnt amused though lol

I was really confused on this train ride! Ive learnt a lot already… im still trying to bring my heart rate down after sprinting to jump on the right train… umm… THIS TRAIN SPLITS! If it wasnt for the guy I met, Arlo, (who was learning english – I think he was sent to me on purpose he was the only fluent english speaking person Ive met so far!!) I dont know what I would have done tbh, the trains in Spain are brilliant they are so organised and modern so I’m not complaining! But until I get used to the train system its just guessing and half translations for now, everyone was running around like headless chooks trying to find their carriage – chaos!

The departures

Let me explain…

I thought I had it all sorted, right! here I am, no need to ask, easy does it… Departure board says my 11:06 train #622 is departing from platform 4… easy! All good right?! NOPE!!! 嵐 Couple mins later, I look up again at the departure board and I see TWO 11:06 trains taking off from platform 4!! NOOOO! Hereee we go… and if that’s not confusing enough.. they both have TWO different delayed departure times noted in red! And from the same platform? What’s going on here!?  It’s gotta be the same train right?

I’m thinking… how am I going to explain this one in “Google translate” Spanish and ask where the hell do I go!? And why do I have 2 trains? 樂

I did try once with the ticket lady, she misunderstood me and said in broken English something like “no no this train later you must wait” ok, that’s it.. I’m just going to find my carriage once I’m on the platform no more asking questions…

A little later lining up to get to the platform a guy is standing behind me and he seems friendly enough.. I turn around and flash a smile and my ticket and ask Hablas Ingles? And he says YES 😀 He is learning English and his English is awesome! So here I am all happy and ask him what’s going on with the trains!? He explains to me that this train is 2 in 1 and they split down the track so I have to make sure I get on the right carriage from the beginning – I find out he’s going to the same destination too! I’m sticking with him

Ive experienced this splitting of trains before while traveling around Europe, so I have an idea of what’s going on but this was next level, I don’t think ANYONE knew what was going on!

Get to the platform and we talking then the train comes in, I’m looking for Coach #9 and I look at the first carriage that stops near me and it’s Coach #27!! 27!? What!? Then everyone freaks out they running around up and down trying to find their carriage, some aren’t marked with the carriage number, Ive got this buldging backpack and a small one hanging from my front and I’m swinging around knocking people out trying to find which direction to run.. then I see Arlo running towards me he grabs me and he says “RUN!!” We need to find the right train! So I knock a few more people out with my backpack while turning around and we run! We sprint past a few carriages and jump on the last one of the 1st train (if that makes sense!?) And he says, ok, we can now walk through the carriages to ours… FINALLY we see the coach sign inside and it says Coach #3… Yes!! Im close now! I leave Arlo at Coach #7 thanking him non stop and I find my seat and crash down into it… Offft! WHAT was THAT!? But boy was that FUN

Carriage is large and spacious with so much room for baggage and passing through everyone looks comfy tbh!
Large seats and let area
Large tray tables

Had the seat again with the blocked window… Man, how annoying – anyways! Glad I was on board and at the right place at the right time!

Comfy ride all the way to Pamplona – overcast weather but was still pretty to look at the passing scenes
